Why funding cuts instead of support from our government?
Why chain university students to mountainous debt
before they get their career foot in the door
then easily criminalize them for being too poor
Why give huge lumps of money to companies
that deny youth careers by keeping them only part-time
This is more than a shame – it’s gov’t sanctioned crime
in a system where the chance to fight back is not in the design
Big politicians pretend close friendship while
claiming they have the little guy’s interests in mind
but instead the 1% profits – our pain is their gain
While blaming victims of their oppression
our so-called protectors brand us with shame
Blinding us with smokescreens & always shifting blame
Counting on apathy, fear of other, and fear of lack
Using funding cuts so that no one will have our backs
They think we can’t fight if the social safety net’s cracked
Yet the Power of the People helps us all to fight back !
