A phone zap is an action where we collectively call our MPs and government cabinet ministers to raise our demands. It’s an easy and fun way to add pressure to our elected officials. Get your friends, family or coworkers on zoom to learn more about the demands and call your MPs together. Phone zaps are an easy way to build collective action, engaging a lot of people who haven’t been able to participate in actions up until this point.
We have a phone zap script and slide template to help you organize a phone zap in your own networks. Here is a template presentation from our action that you can adapt for your own use. Below is info on who to call and a suggested script.

PHONE SCRIPT
My name is [your name] and I am a resident of [City/Riding]. I am calling to demand that Canada call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
I am horrified by the violence taking place in Gaza. UN experts, human rights’ organizations, and residents across Canada have made clear it amounts to a genocide. Over 11,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, including over 4,500 children. The death toll will only continue to rise as Gazans face continued bombardment, starvation and lack of access to medical care. As acknowledged by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the collective punishment of Palestinians by Israel amounts to a war crime. Despite this, Canada has not done enough to condemn this violence or call for its end.
I am calling on you as my elected official and on the Canadian government to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Canada must end its complicity in Israel’s war crimes and genocide, and anything less than a ceasefire is unacceptable. Further, Canada must call for an end to the siege on Gaza to allow for urgent medical aid and relief efforts.
I ask you to please return my call to confirm how Canada will push for an end to the genocide in Palestine. My number is [insert number].

EMAIL SCRIPT
My name is [your name] and I am a resident of [City/Riding]. I am emailing to demand that Canada call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
I am horrified by the violence taking place in Gaza, which UN experts, human rights’ organizations, elected officials and residents across Canada have made clear amounts to a genocide. Over 11,000 Palestinians have been murdered in Gaza, including over 4,500 children.
Recent polling shows that the majority of Canadians support a ceasefire. As our elected official you have an obligation to represent your constituents – calling for anything less than a ceasefire is unacceptable. Canada must end its complicity in Israel’s war crimes and genocide immediately.
Further, Canada must call for an end to the siege on Gaza to allow for urgent medical aid and relief efforts. The limited aid allowed in through the Israel-controlled Rafah Border Crossing is gravely insufficient, and we need global efforts to deliver aid in Palestine and end the Israeli occupation. Without this, countless more Palestinians will suffer or die – a fate we as an international community cannot accept.
I ask that you respond to this email indicating how you will push for an end to the genocide in Palestine.
