Toronto Spring meeting: “Black workers vs South African Apartheid: Lessons for Palestine solidarity”

July 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Join Spring’s Toronto chapter organizing meeting on Friday, July 24, 6pm at 720 Spadina Ave, Room 221!

The main discussion at this meeting, “Black workers versus South African Apartheid: Lessons for Palestinian solidarity,” recenters the self-emancipation of workers in the history of resisting South African Apartheid and asks: what lessons can we draw for building solidarity with Palestine today? When people talk about the fall of Apartheid, workers’ resistance is often pushed to the margins. But in Durban in 1973, tens of thousands of Black workers launched strikes that shook South Africa to its core — birthing a militant trade union movement that helped bring Apartheid down.

We will also be discussing key political issues as well as socialist strategy and tactics, building winning campaigns, and how to be effective socialist organizers in movements.

This meeting is open to all Spring members in the GTA and anyone who is interested in getting involved with Spring.

Doors will be open for light refreshments at 5:30pm and the meeting starts at 6:00pm. We ask everyone to wear a mask.

Please email info@springmag.ca with any questions. See you there!
