Spring Halifax Reads: “Gentrification Is Inevitable and Other Lies”

December 12 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST

Join the Spring Socialist Network’s reading group to read and discuss Leslie Kern’s “Gentrification Is Inevitable and Other Lies.” We will be meeting on December 12, at 5-7 pm, at 6208 Quinpool Road, Unit 102.

What does gentrification look like? Is it a process that replaces one community with another? Who does it affect the most? Is there any way to combat it? We hope that this book will better ground our analysis to understand and resist gentrification in Halifax.

Kern, who previously authored “Feminist City,” is an associate professor of geography and environment and director of women’s and gender studies at Mount Allison University. She will be making an online appearance during our meeting!

The e-book is available to read through Hoopla, an app you can access through your Halifax Public Library membership.

The book is available from Verso. The book can also be purchased at Venus Envy
