Mississauga Spring meeting: “Black workers vs South African Apartheid: Lessons for Palestine solidarity”

October 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Join Spring’s Mississauga organizing meeting on Friday, October 9, 6pm at the Peel Educators’ Centre (6435 Edwards Blvd)!

The main discussion at this meeting, “Black workers versus South African Apartheid: Lessons for Palestinian solidarity,” recenters the self-emancipation of workers in the history of resisting South African Apartheid and asks: what lessons can we draw for building solidarity with Palestine today? When people talk about the fall of Apartheid, workers’ resistance is often pushed to the margins. But in Durban in 1973, tens of thousands of Black workers launched strikes that shook South Africa to its core — birthing a militant trade union movement that helped bring Apartheid down.

We will also be discussing the October 24 Education Worker Day of Action, as well as socialist strategy and tactics, building winning campaigns, and how to be effective socialist organizers in movements.

This meeting is open to all Spring members and anyone who is interested in getting involved with Spring.

Please email info@springmag.ca with any questions. See you there!
