Indigenous Sovereignty and Socialism reading group, part 1
September 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT
Join Spring Magazine as we discuss Indigenous Sovereignty and Socialism by Valerie Lannon and Jesse McLaren.
First published in 2019, the text engages the historic and continuing relationship between movements for Indigenous sovereignty and the struggle for socialism.
As settlers, the authors have attempted to compile in a single accessible publication all the major contributions of Indigenous thinkers, scholars, and activists who have grappled with this question. The focus of the reading group will be on these Indigenous contributions.
This meeting of the reading group will cover the Introduction and Chapters 1, 2, and 3. All are welcome to attend the meeting, even if you haven’t completed the readings.
Part 2 of the reading group will take place on Thursday, October 28 at 7pm EDT and will cover Chapters 4 and 5.
Part 3 of the reading group will take place on Thursday, November 18 at 7pm EDT and will cover Chapters 6 and 7.
