Capitalism: How the economy works (or doesn’t)

We are now living through the largest global recession in modern history. With widespread joblessness, public health emergencies, rising rates of homelessness, mass uprisings against racism and police brutality, and a looming climate crisis, 2020 has shaped up to be the beginning of a new era. Underpinning these crises however is the historical constant of the last 500 years: capitalism. Though 2020 has been a rocky year its upheavals are not unique under capitalism, which is inherently prone to “crises and booms”.

Join Spring for the first part of our “Spring into Socialism: A Beginners’ Guide to Social Change” series with an introduction to capitalism and come away with an understanding how Marxism empowers us to both understand the world and to fight to change it.
