Dennise started his trade union work as a labor organizer at the manufacturing hub in the Philippines in the city of Valenzuela\, and advocated for workers rights in several high-profile cases. These included labor rights issues involving workers of the Jollibee burger chain\, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) telecommunications workers\, and Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers. Now Dennise is organizing here in so-called Vancouver with Migrante BC\, a Filipino migrant workers organization that supports migrants fighting for decent work\, permanent status for all\, and an end to the exploitation and labour export policies that particularly impact Filipino workers at home and abroad. \n. . . \nThe space is equipped with a high-quality air filtration system and monitor built by a clean air engineer\, and masks are mandatory! We need to fight for a socialist alternative. \nSpring’s second annual conference\, “Red October: A Conference of Socialist Ideas in Action\,” takes place October 18-20 at the Toronto Metropolitan University Student Centre in downtown Toronto (55 Gould Street). \nThe conference will include sessions on topics such as building a movement to take on Pierre Poilievre\, solidarity with struggles against settler-colonialism in Palestine\, understanding imperialism\, the Quebec General strike of 1972\, socialism and elections\, and more. The final day of the conference will feature a meeting for labour activists to strategize about building a fighting labour movement. \nGet your tickets here! \n*Attendees are asked to wear a mask while at the conference.
